Spotify → Apple Music is a browser extension that opens Spotify track, album and artist links in Apple Music instead. This policy explains what the extension accesses and how it is handled.

What the extension accesses

• The Spotify link you open — only the address of a Spotify track, album or artist link, at the moment you open one. Playlists, podcasts and the rest of the Spotify site are left alone.
• Your settings — on/off, app or browser, storefront country and tab clean-up are stored locally using chrome.storage.local.
• A match cache — the Apple Music links it has already found are stored locally so a repeat link opens instantly.

What is never collected

• No personal data is collected, stored externally, or transmitted to any server operated by this extension. There is no such server.
• No analytics, tracking, or telemetry of any kind.
• No account credentials, cookies, or authentication tokens are accessed. The extension never signs in to Spotify or Apple.
• Your browsing history and the content of the pages you visit are never read.

Requests it makes

To find the same music on Apple Music, the extension makes these requests from your browser, without cookies or any identifier:

• Spotify (open.spotify.com) — for the public title, artist and length of the item in the link you opened.
• Apple (itunes.apple.com and music.apple.com) — to search its public catalogue for that title and artist.

Spotify and Apple see these requests the way they see any visit to their sites, for example your IP address, under their own privacy policies. They receive the name of a song, album or artist, and nothing about you.

Local storage only

Everything the extension stores lives on your device in your browser's extension storage. Removing the extension removes all of it.

Permissions

• declarativeNetRequestWithHostAccess and access to open.spotify.com — to reroute Spotify track, album and artist links to the extension's hand-off page, and to read the item's public metadata.
• Access to itunes.apple.com and music.apple.com — to look the item up in Apple's catalogue.
• storage — to save your settings and the match cache locally.

Third-party services

Only the Spotify and Apple lookups described above. The extension contacts no other servers, including none operated by the developer.
