Privacy Policy
Unfollowed is a browser extension that unfollows the accounts you follow on X (Twitter), or removes your followers, by clicking the same buttons you would click yourself. This policy explains what the extension accesses and how it is handled.
What the extension accesses
- The page you are on — on your own Following or Followers page on x.com, the extension reads the list of accounts shown so it can click their Following or Remove buttons. It reads handles from the page only to check them against your whitelist and to show them in the popup log.
- Your settings — pacing, caps, and your whitelist are stored locally using
chrome.storage.local. - Progress — counts, timestamps of recent actions, and a short log of the last actions are stored locally so the extension can enforce its caps and resume after a reload.
What is never collected
- No personal data is collected, stored externally, or transmitted to any server operated by this extension.
- No analytics, tracking, or telemetry of any kind.
- No account credentials, cookies, or authentication tokens are accessed.
- The extension makes no network requests of its own. It does not call X's API. Every action is a click on the page, handled by X's own website exactly as if you had clicked.
- The content of posts is never read or stored.
Local storage only
Everything the extension stores lives on your device in your browser's extension storage. Removing the extension removes all of it. Nothing leaves your browser.
Permissions
- storage — to save your settings and progress locally.
- Access to x.com and twitter.com — to run on your Following and Followers pages. The extension does nothing on any other site and nothing on other X pages.
Third-party services
None. The extension contacts no servers, including none operated by the developer.
A note on X's rules
Automating follow and unfollow actions is against X's automation rules. The extension is deliberately slow and stays well below X's published limits, but using it is your decision and your responsibility. This is a privacy note, not legal advice.
